Dawn Brown

Dawn has an MS in Psychology from DePaul University, and is an LGBT advocate in all areas of her life. She served a two year term on the Board of Governors for The Human Rights Campaign Illinois, was a research assistant at the IMPACT LGBT Health and Development Program at Northwestern University, and was also a writer for The L Stop. Currently she is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is studying gender expression in queer women. When she first wrote her article about Invisible Femmes for The L Stop, she was shocked at the number of responses she got not only from women in the U.S., but from femmes around the world! It was this incredible response from the L Stop readers that inspired her to write this book and bring the stories of femme invisibility to everyone. In sharing our stories we will feel heard and less invisible! It is her hope that femmes around the world will be able to connect through her book Invisible Femmes: Our Stories.
